Advanced Diver & DL Development

In order to ensure that branches are able to continue to grow and have access to a suitably highly qualified and experienced group of divers, we intend to implement an ongoing programme of Dive Leader and Advanced Diver development which will include assistance with preparation for gaining these qualifications.

This is not a replacement for a branch's own training scheme, but represents additional advice and coaching for those working towards the Advanced Diver & Dive Leader qualifications. It is also hoped that these regional programmes will assist any branches who may be finding it difficult, perhaps due to insufficient instructor resource, to qualify divers to these higher diving grades.

One of the ways we can assist with both Dive Leader and Advanced Diver grades is by offering the classroom and some of the dry practial lessons as regional courses rather like SDCs. Please see the SDC Programme of Events for such events which are currently planned. Large sections of the Dive Leader grade are covered in the PRM and Oxygen Administration SDCs. Dive planning and marshalling skills are developed, particularly at the Advanced Diver level, and inter-branch or regional diving such as the REDS scheme provide an additional opportunity to practice these.
